Public safety No. 01/12
Wisconsin should legalize recreational marijuana for adults.
Background Marijuana is illegal in Wisconsin for recreational use, and the state has no broad medical program. Neighboring Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois allow recreational use.
As governor, I will legalize it and invest the revenue in schools, infrastructure, and small businesses.

Health care No. 02/12
Wisconsin should fully expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.
Background Wisconsin's BadgerCare covers adults with incomes up to the federal poverty level but has not adopted the full expansion to 138% of that level. Full expansion would raise the federal share of costs for adults in the program.

Education No. 03/12
Wisconsin should raise the share of school special education costs that the state reimburses.
Background The state pays school districts back for part of their special education costs, and districts cover the rest from local budgets. Recent state budgets raised that rate, and this would raise it further.
universal early childhood education, new investments in public schools, and closing the special education reimbursement gap

Economy No. 04/12
Wisconsin should create a state-run retirement savings program for workers without a plan at work.
Background Several states run programs that enroll private-sector workers without an employer plan in individual retirement accounts. Wisconsin does not have such a program.
We need to create a public infrastructure that allows for people to pay into their own retirement savings, giving them the ability to be able to extract those dollars once they get old enough so that they can actually live with dignity and age in place.

Immigration No. 05/12
Wisconsin should require county jails to honor federal immigration detainer requests.
Background Immigration detainers ask local jails to hold a person so federal agents can take custody. Wisconsin law does not require jails to honor them, so each county sets its own policy.
No. I think that the sheriff's office have been operating under their policy for many, many years.

Abortion No. 06/12
Wisconsin should keep its ban on most abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Background Wisconsin law bans most abortions at about 20 weeks of pregnancy. The state Supreme Court ruled in 2025 that an 1849 law does not ban abortion, leaving the 20-week limit as the main restriction.

Democracy and elections No. 10/12
Wisconsin should have a nonpartisan agency draw its legislative districts.
Background The Wisconsin Legislature draws district maps, subject to the governor's veto, and maps were redrawn after a 2024 court ruling. A nonpartisan agency would take over that job.

Guns No. 11/12
Wisconsin should require background checks for private gun sales.
Background Federal law requires background checks only for sales by licensed dealers, so private sales in Wisconsin need no check. This would extend checks to most private sales.
Support common-sense gun safety: universal background checks, safe firearm takeback options, and accountability for violent offenders, especially in domestic violence situations.

Housing No. 12/12
Wisconsin should bar large investment firms from buying single-family homes.
Background Large investment firms have bought single-family homes in some Wisconsin cities to rent out. A ban would leave more homes for individual buyers.
Give municipalities the option to set guardrails on bulk investor purchases of single- and two-family homes — because starter homes should go to first-time buyers, not corporate investors buying up neighborhoods.
